Oak Hill Fire disaster for 2 members of our Westside Family
Date: Thursday September 8, 2011Community,Friends of Westside 15

The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors proclaimed Thursday a local emergency as a result of the Hill Fire, which burned 1,158 acres in Oak Hills and Hesperia, destroyed two homes, and damaged two others. Bruce and Rick aka the “Goat Guys” are were victims of the Oak Hills fire and had no insurance.

They lost everything including their home, vehicle, 90% of their animals (dogs, cats, livestock, birds, rabbits, chickens, goats, sheep, etc). They need our help to get things that they need, especially to help the surviving animals. They are looking for large dog runs or kennels for about 20 dogs, blankets, sheets, bowls for food or water and even dog houses.
They have nothing so we are asking for anything that might help them get back on their feet. The need for volunteers to help move the existing corrals, clean up and organize the metal debris from the property so they can clean it up and begin again.
Donations of any kind such as time, money, supplies, clothes, power tools (that are rechargeable battery driven since there is no electricity), and food for both Bruce and Rick as well as their surviving animals would be very helpful and most of all, all the prayers that can be mustard.
Donations for Bruce and Rick can be made at any Desert Community Bank or on line at www.hdcfoundation.org in the fire victim account for Bruce Schumacher. For updated information or any drop offs or help in any way, please contact Contact Cheryl at (909) 855-0625 or Charlotte at (760) 782-7131
Address for all drop offs 12253 Riggins Rd Phelan, CA 92371 off Duncan Rd between Johnson Rd and Sheep Creek Rd
This weekend Saturday and Sunday there is going to be a giant effort to organize all existing corrals and enclosures as well as other clean up at bruce’s house at 7037 Baldy Mesa Rd Hesperia Ca 92344. We can use all the help we can get. Take Phelan Rd to Baldy Mesa Rd turn south and go 3 miles and his house is on the left (the dirt road begins 1.5 miles from the intersection of Baldy Mesa Rd and Phelan Rd) and just keep going. You will see a water tank and a chain link fence on the left.
Anyone that can help in any way will be greatly appreciated. We are still doctoring the animals who survived the fire. Many have needed vet care and are still in need of more medicine and wound care.
They have been members of our Westside Family for many years and any support we can give them would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for all your help in helping Bruce and Rick
